Cambourne Travel News OCTOBER 2025
FURTHER UPDATE ON THE ENTRY AND EXIT SYSTEM (EES)
- The system will be operational from Sunday 12 October 2025.
- Not all of the entry points in Schengen Area will be ready by then so the system will be gradually introduced.
- If you are leaving the UK by Eurostar, Le Shuttle or Ferry the procedure will take place at your departure point i.e. St. Pancras. However, the necessary facilities in the UK may not be in place by 12 October. Eurostar for instance have announced that only Eurostar Premier clients initially will be required to register for EES.
- Member states will have a 180-day transitional period, by the end of which they must reach full registration of all individuals.
- Once implemented, the new system will register entries and exits, fingerprints and facial images, and passport data of non-EU nationals entering the bloc.
